A Tribute to Rahul Dravid...

     Rahul sharad dravid (born 11 January 1973) started playing cricket at the age of 10 in the streets of Bangalore. He performed well for the school cricket team and at junior tournament to merit selection in the state for under 15, 17 and 19 tournament. He played his international debut match against Sri lanka in Singapore on april 3 1996, he could manage to score only 3 runs. but he stood strong to fight for a place in the indian national team. He made his test debut on 20th june 1996 against England at Lord's, an injury to sanjay manjrekar gave him the cap, he proved himself himself this time, he scored 95 and stunned every one with his caliber and immense talent. People started recognizing him as the future of the indian national team. few months later a test match against South Africa from january 16 - 20 1997, he achieved his first landmark his maiden test century. scoring 148 he helped india to post a score of 410 against the opponents. Later on 21st may 1997 he scored his maiden One day international century. It was just the begning, later he went on and on breaking a sevral records and winning a million of hearts.

 

  And.... the captain arrives...!!!
 On November 22 2005, Dravid was appointed as the captain for the test series against Sri lanka. He enjoyed success not only as a captain but also as an individual breaking several records. On February 14 2007 he reached another milestone, scoring 10000 runs in one day internationals, he becomes the sixth player to do it, in just 287 innings. Later winning test series in England and performing extremely well he proves his value in the team. But luck didn't favor him always Dravid left his captaincy after exit from the 2007 world cup in the first round and loosing netwest series against England.From there on he had many up's and down's, he was dropped many times, but he never lost hopes he came back always with a bang.
 It was a nightmare for Indian cricket team loosing 4-0 against England in the test series from july -august 2011. Dravid was the only player who stood strong he managed to score 3 centuries, where as none other indian player could score even one, He opened the innings when need and stood tall till the end. He was the only player who proved himself to play against any nation in any conditions, he batted from start till the end. It bought smiles to plenty of Indians. Then he had a disappointing tour against Australia from dec. 2011- jan. 2012. in which he managed to score only 194 in 8 innings with an average of 24.25. It was his last test series he palyed. On 9th march 2012, it was the end of an era, Rahul dravid announced his retirement from international cricket.

   It was the end of his 16yrs. long journey for him. you call him Mr. cricket.. Mr. dependable.. Jammy.. The wall... call him what you wish, he earned all the respect and the heart of a million cricket fans, not only from India, but in the entire world.

The most respected cricketer not only for his playing abilities, but for all the adjustments and sacrifices he made for the sport.
This is why he is best among all..!!

         ... yes !!

    We need to play 7 batsmen.. will you keep the wickets?
        ... yes !!

     We cannot play seaming balls in England.. will you make a   comeback in ODI's?
        ...yes !!
 
     We need a stop -gap captain.. will you captain the side?
      ... yes !!

     We need to get in some overs quickly.. will you bowl?
      ... yes !!

     Dhoni needs to bowl.. will you keep again?
     ... yes !!

     One of the seniors needs to retire.. will you retire first?
     ... yes !!

Salute to the man who has served the indian cricket team in the every possible way.. the best cricketer ever... who stood for his team when ever they needed, a player who played for the team. total respect.
